Musk allows Ukraine to use Starlink, says final decision rests with Trump

Elon Musk is prepared to allow Ukraine to use Starlink for strikes against Russia but is awaiting US President Donald Trump’s decision, the Financial Times reports, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the newspaper, Musk, during private talks with former Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, said it was a political decision that should be made by the White House.

Fedorov declined to comment on his conversations with Musk; however, he noted that Ukraine needs more jet drones, low-cost missiles and AI-enabled missiles.

“You can’t conduct any kind of dialogue with Putin any other way . . . He understands only force,” he added.

Kyiv wants to use Starlink at distances of up to 200 kilometres inside Russia, particularly to target Russian ballistic missile launchers.

Earlier, Trump reportedly opposed expanding Starlink’s use for such strikes, while Musk himself had also reportedly been against the move.
