Musk now worth $852 billion after SpaceX–xAI acquisition
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has become the first person in history to amass a fortune exceeding $800 billion, with his net worth reaching a record $852 billion, according to Forbes.
The sharp increase in Musk’s wealth followed SpaceX’s acquisition of xAI, another company he founded. Forbes reported that the merged entity was valued at $1.25 trillion, a deal that added roughly $84 billion to Musk’s personal fortune.
Prior to the transaction, Musk held around 42% of SpaceX, a stake worth approximately $336 billion based on the company’s estimated valuation of $800 billion. He also owned 49% of xAI, valued at about $122 billion. Following the merger, Musk’s share in the combined company is estimated at 43%, or $542 billion, making SpaceX the largest single asset in his portfolio.
The SpaceX–xAI deal marks the second merger between Musk’s companies in less than a year. In March 2025, he previously merged xAI with the social media platform X.
Forbes noted that Musk has broken four net worth milestones in just the past four months. In October 2025, he became the first individual to surpass $500 billion, then crossed $600 billion on December 15 and $700 billion on December 19.
With his fortune now standing at $852 billion, Musk has widened the gap with the world’s second-richest person, Google co-founder Larry Page, whose net worth is estimated at $281 billion — a difference of $578 billion.
