Nationwide demonstrations set to confront Trump on his birthday

A nationwide protest aimed at challenging US President Donald Trump's administration is set to take place on June 14, the same day a large-scale military parade is planned in Washington, D.C., to mark the US Army’s 250th anniversary—and the president’s 79th birthday.

The protest, organised by the activist group Refuse Fascism, is being promoted under the banner "No Kings Day", Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

The group hopes to draw thousands to events across the country in an effort to, as they describe, “unite Americans of diverse political views” in opposition to Trump’s presidency. 

Refuse Fascism held a series of demonstrations on May 17 in downtown Los Angeles and other cities nationwide as a prelude to the June event. Protesters voiced strong criticism of Trump’s policies and leadership, particularly on issues related to immigration and constitutional governance. “Trump must go now!” remains the group’s central rallying cry.

According to Refuse Fascism spokesperson Susara Taylor, the protest movement is rooted in deep concern about the direction of the country under Trump’s leadership. "Donald Trump is trashing the rule of law, he's disappearing immigrants, he's threatening to do the same without any due process [for] legal citizens,” Taylor said. “The other day on television he said he didn't know if he has to abide by the Constitution. This is an emergency. Not just for people in this country, but for all over the planet." 

Meanwhile, the Trump administration is preparing a massive military celebration in the nation’s capital to commemorate the Army’s historic anniversary. The parade is expected to include tanks, thousands of marching troops, and military aircraft flying over the city. With both events scheduled for June 14, a symbolic clash is expected between the administration’s display of military strength and a growing protest movement seeking to disrupt the narrative of national unity and strength promoted by the parade.
