NATO to expand eastern flank groups to brigade level

NATO has said that it will soon expand its battle groups on the eastern flank to the brigade level.

The statement came from NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană during a meeting of the military committee on January 18.

"NATO is making progress on rapidly expanding its battlegroups on the eastern flank to brigade level ... This goal will be achieved in the shortest possible time," he said, according to RBC-Ukraine.

In addition, Geoană called on the NATO allies to increase the production of equipment and ammunition both for Ukraine and for their own defence.
