05 June 2026 18:34
NATO’s forward-deployed land forces headquarters in Rovaniemi, Finland, will begin operations on June 6, Finland’s Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen has stated.
He said the government had announced the goal of establishing a NATO forward land forces headquarters at the beginning of its term, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Since then, progress has been rapid, and tomorrow the headquarters will be officially established,” he added.
The core of the headquarters will consist of 600 Swedish troops.
The formation will also include personnel from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Denmark, and Iceland.
