Naval mine explodes near beach in Romanian resort town

An explosion occurred near the shore of the Romanian resort village of Costinești in the early hours on August 14.

As reported by the Romanian Digi24, referring to local authorities, a naval mine has hit the nearby pier which detonated the device, causing an explosion.

While there is no serious damage from the explosion with only one man having gotten slightly injured, authorities believe that there might be a second mine floating in the nearby waters. The Romanian Navy has prepared a team consisting of divers and the coast guard to assess the situation in order to locate and defuse the second explosive device.
