Nearly 800 Ukrainians hiding in air raid shelters in Severodonetsk
02 June 2022 22:07
At least 800 people, including children, are hiding in air raid shelters under the Azot chemical plant in the Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk, which has been hit by Russian missile fire.
Governor of the Luhansk region Serhiy Gaidai revealed the news to CNN on June 2, according to the Ukrainian news service Ukrinform.
“Locals were asked to leave the city, but they refused. There are also children there, but there are a few of them,” he said.
Gaidai added that following an air strike by Russian troops on May 31, a tank with nitric acid at the Azot plant was damaged. On that day, a thick orange cloud rose over the area.
“Thank God, now nothing threatens people. After all, the cloud rose and immediately moved, there is no mortal danger,” he said.
