Netanyahu in no rush to visit US despite reports of attending Graham’s funeral
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not rushing to make a trip to the United States despite reports that he could attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham.
According to Israeli media reports citing informed sources, Netanyahu does not want a potential visit to be centred solely on the funeral.
Sources close to the Israeli leader said there are concerns that, under such circumstances, US President Donald Trump might limit any engagement to a brief meeting that would carry little political significance and generate limited public attention.
Netanyahu is seeking to secure a separate meeting with Trump before travelling to the United States, the sources added.
The concern comes as relations between the two leaders have cooled somewhat in recent months amid the war against Iran and Lebanon.
