Netanyahu: Regime change in Iran “possible, but not guaranteed”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has highlighted that the overthrow of Iran’s leadership may be possible over time, but declined to predict such an outcome.
“I think that you can't predict when that happen. Is it possible? Yes. Is it guaranteed? No,” Netanyahu said in an interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, which aired on Sunday, May 10.
His remarks came amid US President Donald Trump rejecting Iran’s latest response to an American proposal, calling it “totally unacceptable,” while Iranian state media said Tehran had dismissed what it described as Washington’s “excessive demands.”
Netanyahu also acknowledged that Israeli strategic planners fully realised the scale of the risk posed by Iran’s ability to block shipping through the Strait of Hormuz only after the start of the conflict.
