The Dutch government is considering using the frigate Evertsen to defend the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea amid Israeli-Iranian military confrontation, Defence Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius and Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen told the House of Representatives.
According to a report by the Dutch Ministry of Defence, cited by Caliber.Az, on March 3, the Netherlands received a request from France to support the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in the eastern Mediterranean using the frigate Evertsen.
Both ships recently participated in exercises in the Baltic Sea. A decision on the deployment is expected to be made soon and communicated to parliament.
Meanwhile, the frigate has already sailed to the Mediterranean alongside the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier.
