AnewZ releases documentary on Somalia’s struggle for sovereignty VIDEO

The AnewZ television channel has produced a documentary dedicated to developments in Somalia, a country located in the far east of Africa.

According to Caliber.Az, the film’s author is a political analyst and journalist, First Deputy Chair of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan, and member of the Youth Council of the New Azerbaijan Party, Anastasia Lavrina. She visited Somalia and witnessed the country’s problems firsthand.

More than three decades after the collapse of the unified state, Somalia remains divided between Somaliland, Puntland, and the federal government in Mogadishu. The country is often described as one of the most dangerous in the world: around 3.5 million people remain internally displaced, while one of the most active radical groups, Al-Shabaab, continues to maintain its presence.

The documentary explores the political fragmentation of the country and raises a key question: is the restoration of Somalia’s sovereignty in its former form truly possible?
