New Zealand's military personnel to train Ukrainian forces in UK
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that she will send 30 military personnel to the UK. They will train Ukrainian soldiers on how to use the L119 light gun.
The New Zealand military will stay in the UK until the end of July, CNN reports.
The soldiers, as well as the necessary training ammunition and equipment, including targeting systems, will be transported by air. The process will be coordinated by Britain.
The training of each gun crew will last about a week. The training will involve 230 Ukrainian artillerymen. "New Zealand has been specifically asked to send a team of trainers for this purpose," Ms. Ardern clarified.
The L119 (aka M119) is a 105-mm light gun manufactured in the United States. It is designed to support infantry, amphibious troops, and assault groups. It has several modifications (different sights and fire control system).
