Niger celebrates French troops withdrawal with concert and prayers

Friday prayers and a concert were held in the capital of Niger, Niamey, to mark the withdrawal of the last French contingents.

Thousands of people gathered on Friday for a rally, which was accompanied by performances by acrobats and anti-French slogans. In addition, Nigerians raised the flags of Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Russia, TASS reports, citing the ANP news agency.

The event took place in the presence of the prime ministers of Nigeria (Ali Lamin Zein), Burkina Faso (Joachim Kyélem), and Mali (Choguel Kokalla Maïga), who then continued the three-day working visit with a speech to students on Saturday and a meeting with the head of Niger's transitional government, Abdurahmane Tchiani.
