Nine members of OAS refuse to support anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine
Nine member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS) did not support a resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine.
This announcement on October 7 following the results of the 52nd General Assembly of the OAS, which is being held in Peru, Izvestiya reports.
The Declaration was supported by Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, USA, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay. This was reported on the organization's Twitter.
Representatives of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Honduras, Dominica, Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines refused to support the anti-Russian declaration.
In April, the OAS council stripped Russia of its permanent observer status with the Organization of American States. The corresponding decision was then explained in the context of the Russian "special operation" to protect the civilian population of Donbas.
On February 24, Russia invaded the territory of Ukraine leading to a lasting bloody war, which is now in its eighth month.
