North Korean leader Kim Jong Un observed the test-firing of a new type of anti-aircraft missile, as the country continues to develop its air defence capabilities.
The test was conducted in the East Sea of Korea on December 24 and involved a high-altitude, long-range anti-air missile system currently under development. It marked the first test aimed at assessing the tactical and technical characteristics of the system, Caliber.Az reports via North Korean state media.
The missiles reportedly struck simulated targets at an altitude of about 200 kilometres. The test was described as part of routine activities by the Missile Administration and affiliated research institutes to improve the country’s air defence technologies.
