08 May 2026 09:43
North Korea plans to deploy new self-propelled howitzers along its border with South Korea by the end of the year as part of efforts to strengthen its defence capabilities, Yonhap reports, citing the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
According to KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited an ammunition factory on Wednesday and inspected the production of a new 155 mm self-propelled howitzer.
The weapon is reportedly intended for three artillery battalions that will be deployed in long-range artillery units along the so-called “southern border” with South Korea.
