Norway allocates $174 million to Ukraine via US arms mechanism
Norway has allocated 2.8 billion kroner (approximately $174.4 million) to Ukraine through the mechanism for purchasing US weapons for Ukraine (PURL), according to a statement from the Norwegian government.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the funding forms part of a broader effort in which Norway, together with its European partners, is financing military aid packages supplied by the United States to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
“Now we are making another important contribution. I hope that more European countries will join so that Ukraine can receive vital military equipment as quickly as possible,” he said.
With this latest tranche, Norway’s total contributions through the PURL mechanism have now exceeded 12.5 billion kroner.
