Norway cuts fuel taxes until September
30 March 2026 12:49
Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg has announced a temporary reduction in taxes on petrol and diesel, effective from April 1.
According to NRK, the government made the announcement on the morning of March 30.
The petrol tax will be reduced by 4.41 kroner per litre, and the diesel tax by 2.85 kroner per litre.
The lowered rates will remain in effect only until September 1, after which they will return to their previous levels.
The changes were made possible by a decision on March 26, when a majority of Stortinget deputies voted for the emergency tax cut to curb rising fuel prices.
“This is a very quick implementation, but we were determined to put the decision into effect as soon as possible,” Stoltenberg said.
