Norway hails two-week Iran-US truce as positive step to peace
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide endorsed the two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran as a step toward preparing a peace agreement, speaking on the morning of April 8.
Eide described the ceasefire announcement as an important and positive development, Caliber.Az reports per Norwegian media.
“It means diplomacy now has a real chance to succeed at a time when the alternative could have been a sharp escalation of an extremely destructive war,” the minister said.
He also praised Pakistan’s efforts to encourage dialogue between the parties. “A ceasefire is not the same as peace, and we are still far from declaring an end to the war. Now the sides must exercise maximum restraint and fully seize this opportunity to pursue a diplomatic solution,” Eide added.
