Norway increases military support to Ukraine this year by $239 million
Norway will increase its military support to Ukraine by 2.5 billion crowns ($239 million) this year to 10 billion, the Nordic country's government said on July 11.
It said in a statement it would also increase its contribution to NATO's support fund for Ukraine, ZAWYA reports.
"Norway is increasing its contribution to NATO's comprehensive aid package. Norway will contribute $28 million in funding in 2023 and a total of $142 million over a five-year period. This is a clear indication of our long-term support for Ukraine's reform efforts and will help bring Ukraine closer to NATO," Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre said.
Earlier, it was reported that the Norwegian prime minister argued that NATO could formally invite Ukraine to the alliance, but the document should stipulate that this will happen "when the time is right".
