Thailand urges respect for UN Charter after attack on Thai cargo ship
Thailand has voiced serious concern over the escalating crisis in the Middle East, which has intensified following attacks by Israel and the United States, as well as retaliatory actions by Iran.
According to The Nation, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the ongoing attacks are heightening tensions both within the region and beyond, posing a threat to the lives of civilians, including Thai nationals.
The statement highlighted a recent incident involving a Thai vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, which affected maritime freedom and underscored the risks to international shipping. Thailand stressed the importance of adhering to the UN Charter and principles of international law, including the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure.
The ministry urged all parties to exercise restraint, reduce tensions, and return to dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation and preserve regional and global stability.
