Norway launches independent inquiry into Epstein case handling
The Norwegian Parliament has unanimously approved the establishment of an independent commission to investigate the actions of Norway’s diplomatic service in connection with the case of convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein, NRK reports.
The commission will be chaired by former Chief Executive Officer and Chief Editor at Dagens Næringsliv AS, Amund Djuve. Its membership will also include Judge Kjersti Buun Nygaard as deputy chair, lawyer Hugo-A. B. Munthe-Kaas, and Swedish diplomat Axel Wernhoff.
The inquiry will examine how Norwegian authorities responded to information related to the Epstein case and assess the handling of relevant diplomatic and institutional processes. The commission is expected to submit its final report by January 31, 2028.
The Epstein case has generated significant public attention and political debate in Norway, including scrutiny over possible connections and the conduct of certain high-ranking officials.
