Norway, Romania to align efforts in countering disinformation risks

Norway and Romania have agreed to joint measures to combat disinformation as part of their cooperation under the European Economic Area (EEA) agreement, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced.

This marks the first time that countering fake news and information manipulation has been formally included in a joint programme between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Norwegian media.

Eide noted that, amid increasing pressure on democratic values, such cooperation is becoming increasingly important.

“In turbulent times marked by pressure on democratic values, this work is becoming an increasingly important area of cooperation,” the minister said.
