Norway’s crown prince visits Ukraine in rare royal gesture of solidarity Video
Crown Prince Haakon of Norway has arrived in Ukraine, marking the first visit by a member of the Norwegian royal family to the country in nearly two decades.
According to Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is intended as a strong demonstration of the country’s steadfast and ongoing support for the Ukrainian government and its people, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
The Crown Prince was accompanied by Norway’s Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland. During the trip, he is scheduled to meet Ukrainian officials and Norwegian partners, and to visit projects backed under the Nansen Support Programme — Norway’s flagship aid initiative for Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a video of his meeting with the Crown Prince on X.
“We deeply appreciate Norway’s $450 million contribution towards Ukraine’s energy security,” Zelenskyy stated. “We also discussed strengthening cultural ties and expanding investment in the defence sector. There is strong potential across all areas of cooperation.”
I met with Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. The Crown Prince began his first visit to Ukraine by visiting a rehabilitation center in Irpin. I am grateful for this meaningful gesture of attention and support for our people.

Recall that Norway is providing military assistance to Ukraine, notably by joining the aviation coalition.
Ukraine received its first F-16 fighter jets from its partners in the summer of last year. Initially, this was reported by Western media, and a few days later, the information was confirmed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Ukraine has also received air defence systems, artillery, armoured vehicles, and missiles from Norway. Moreover, the country’s Prime Minister announced that Norway will provide €3.5 billion to Ukraine in 2025 to support its needs.
