Norway's Hoegh Autoliners halts Red Sea shipping
21 December 2023 15:19
Norwegian shipping company Hoegh Autoliners announced on Wednesday that it decided to temporarily stop transit through the Red Sea due to continued attacks on commercial ships by Yemen's Houthi.
"The safety of our crew, cargo, and ship remains Hoegh Autoliners' top priority," the company said in a statement, adding that its "guidelines will be continuously reviewed and updated in line with recommendations from relevant authorities," NEWSru.co.il reports.
Previously, the Norwegian Maritime Authority decided to raise the security level in the southern part of the Red Sea to the highest level, level 3, after a vessel owned by Norwegian Inventor Chemical Tankers was attacked by Houthi rebels.
