Norwegian Air swaps Instagram logo for British Airways after World Cup bet
Norwegian Air has honored the terms of a friendly wager with British Airways following Norway’s defeat to England in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals.
After the Norwegian national team lost 2-1 after extra time, the airline changed its Instagram logo to that of British Airways.
“While the tournament is over for us, this friendly bet will forever live in all our hearts. We wish England and British Airways all the best in the semi-final, and we sincerely hope you'll get to bring football home!” Norwegian Air said.
The bet was originally proposed by the Norwegian carrier before the match.
“If Norway wins, you have to switch to our logo on Instagram on Sunday (one day). And vice versa. Deal?” the airline wrote.
British Airways responded confidently: “Don’t make a bet you can’t win.”
When Norwegian Air replied, “Does this mean ur too scared?”, the British airline answered: “Scared? Nor-way, mate.”
British Airways ultimately accepted the challenge, and the two airlines officially went ahead with the wager.
England will face Argentina in the World Cup semifinals.
