Number of travellers from Azerbaijan to foreign countries increases

In January-February of this year, the total number of Azerbaijani citizens travelling abroad increased by 18.3% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 218,000 people.

Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee, that the number of Azerbaijani citizens travelling to Georgia increased 1.5 times, to Türkiye - by 15.9%, to Russia - by 8.4%, to Iran - by 15.5%. 39.7% of the country's citizens visited Türkiye, 22.8% - Russia, 9.9% - Georgia, 8.4% - Iran, and 19.2% - other countries.

Seventy per cent of those leaving were men, and 30 per cent were women.

In January-February 2023, 29.7% of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries used rail and road transport, 67.8% - by air, and 2.5% - by sea.
