NYP: Nancy Pelosi and husband amass $133 million in stock portfolio

09 November 2025 16:26

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has increased her wealth by 16,930% since the start of her political career, the New York Post reports.

She has served in the U.S. Congress since 1987. Together with her husband, Paul Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi has amassed a stock portfolio worth approximately $133.7 million over 37 years in the House.

When Pelosi was first elected to Congress in 1987, the couple’s stock holdings were valued between $610,000 and $785,000. Today, their portfolio exceeds $133 million, representing an average annual return of 14.5%. By comparison, U.S. indices such as the S&P 500, NASDAQ, and Dow Jones yield an average of 7–9%. In 2023 alone, the Pelosi portfolio grew by 54%, more than double the S&P 500’s performance.

In her latest financial disclosure, Pelosi reported investments in around two dozen technology companies, including NVIDIA, Palo Alto Networks, Salesforce, Netflix, and Apple. One of her most profitable trades was purchasing a call option for 50,000 NVIDIA shares at $12 per share in late 2023 for $1.8 million—less than 10% of the market price. These shares are now worth over $7 million.

Financial analyst Dan Weiskopf, who manages an ETF tracking congressional trades (NANC, named after Pelosi), noted: “She trades aggressively and with confidence. Only someone with highly reliable information would act this way.”

Republican National Committee spokesperson Kierten Pels added, “Nancy Pelosi’s true legacy is becoming the most successful insider trader in American history. “If anyone else had turned $785,000 into $133.7 million with better returns than Warren Buffett, they’d be retiring behind bars.”

According to the New York Post, the Pelosis’ total net worth is around $280 million, including stocks. Their holdings include a Napa Valley winery, an Italian restaurant in the Bay Area, commercial real estate, and a home in the upscale Pacific Heights neighbourhood of San Francisco.

Pelosi, the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House, announced this week that she will retire in 2027 amid growing criticism of lawmakers engaged in stock trading with potential insider information. Pelosi’s office declined to comment, according to the New York Post.
