Official assesses possible nuclear strike on Ukraine Much blackmail ahead

20 April 2022 17:23

Adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff Oleksiy Arestovich thinks that Russia is unlikely to use nuclear weapons. Arestovich called the corresponding statements blackmail, RBC-Ukraine reports, with reference to Arestovich in a phone call.

Arestovich explained that after a nuclear attack, the military must enter the nuclear zone. However, the military will be exposed to radiation, which will lead to fatal cases.

Moreover, radiation contamination not only of Ukraine, but also of Belarus and the European part of Russia may be caused as a result of nuclear weapons.

“Russia's launch of a strategic nuclear missile will cause panic worldwide,” Arestovich added. “Countries having nuclear weapons, in particular, the US, China, UK, France, India and Pakistan, will not know who exactly the missile is aimed at.”

“There will be a lot of blackmail,” the adviser said. “Every day we will hear about nuclear weapons a little more. A memo was published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on what to do in case of a NATO nuclear strike on Russia, but it was removed a few minutes later.”

“However, there will be a lot of such tricks,” Arestovich said. “They want to pretend that they are uncontrollable, but we know well that they are rational people.

They have a distorted view of the world, but they understand what is happening. I think there will be a lot of blackmail, but let's leave 1 percent for the attack itself.”

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the world must be concerned about the likelihood of Russia using nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
