Official: India remains measured, responsible amid tensions
Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed regional tensions and the importance of maintaining open communication to prevent miscalculation on May 10.
“Had a conversation with US @SecRubio this morning. India’s approach has always been measured and responsible and remains so,” Jaishankar wrote on X, following the talks, Caliber.Az reports.
In a separate statement, US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed the call and outlined Washington’s stance on the issue.
“Secretary Rubio emphasised that both sides need to identify methods to de-escalate and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation,” Bruce said.
She added that the United States is willing to assist in facilitating constructive dialogue to prevent future disputes.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also held a discussion with Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, urging both Pakistan and India to seek methods for de-escalation.
