Official: Türkiye has potential to mobilise countries on climate agenda
18 April 2026 13:31
Financing remains the central challenge in implementing the global climate agenda, Azerbaijan’s presidential envoy on climate affairs and COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev has said.
Speaking at a panel discussion at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Babayev stressed that adequate funding is a basic prerequisite for meaningful progress on climate action, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He noted that despite the continuation of multiple conflicts worldwide, periods of relative stability should be used to advance climate-related initiatives.
“In particular, Türkiye today has significant potential and an opportunity to encourage a number of countries to take a more active role in the climate agenda,” Babayev said.
