Oman moves to facilitate GCC cargo transit through its ports
Oman’s land transport sector is prepared to facilitate the movement of goods through the country’s ports to other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, a representative of the Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said.
Speaking in an interview with Oman News Agency (ONA), the official explained that the ministry has introduced a package of logistical measures and incentives aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and ensuring the smooth flow of commercial cargo.
Among the measures is permission for empty trucks from GCC countries to enter Oman in order to load goods before transporting them onward. Authorities have also introduced faster processing of applications through the Bayan electronic system.
According to the ministry, these initiatives are intended to strengthen Oman’s role as a reliable logistics corridor and a regional trade hub, while also supporting economic cooperation and expanding trade flows across the Persian Gulf region.
