29 June 2026 18:07
French President Emmanuel Macron has received the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, in Paris during the first state visit by an Omani head of state to France in nearly four decades, according to foreign media.
Key topics of the talks included ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and reducing tensions in the Middle East. Macron also warned Iran against imposing transit fees on ships passing through the strategically important maritime route.
Following the meeting, France and Oman signed 12 agreements aimed at expanding cooperation across several key sectors.
