On Georgia’s Independence Day, Trump signals support for deeper bilateral ties
US President Donald Trump has voiced support for expanding bilateral cooperation with Georgia in a formal letter to Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, issued on the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day.
Trump wrote that he looked forward to deepening economic relations between the United States and Georgia through the promotion of fair trade and the expansion of bilateral cooperation, emphasising his administration’s focus on trade and diplomacy, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
The letter arrives as Georgia continues its diplomatic push to reset relations with the US under the Trump administration. Georgian officials, including Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, have repeatedly emphasised the importance of revitalising the strategic partnership. Kobakhidze has expressed Georgia’s readiness to sign a new agreement that outlines practical steps to deepen cooperation with Washington.
