One dead as train derails after collision in Slovakia PHOTO
A passenger train has derailed in southwestern Slovakia following a collision with a truck at a railway crossing, resulting in one fatality.
The accident occurred on the morning of April 16, shortly after 9 a.m., at an uncontrolled railway crossing near the town of Dunajská Streda, close to Bratislava, Aktuality reports.
A regional passenger train collided with a truck that had ended up on the tracks, causing the train to derail.
The impact resulted in a diesel fuel leak from the damaged vehicle.
The truck driver was killed in the collision. Rescue services said 21 passengers on the train sustained minor injuries.
Rail traffic on the affected section has been temporarily suspended while investigations and recovery operations continue.
