OPEC: Azerbaijan - global platform for constructive energy dialogue PHOTO
OPEC Secretary General Haitham al-Ghais has said that Azerbaijan has become a global platform for constructive dialogue on key energy issues.
He made the statement in his letter to the future participants of the 30th anniversary Baku Energy Forum, which will be held on June 4-5 within the framework of Baku Energy Week, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He said Azerbaijan's role in international energy processes was particularly prominent during the UN climate change conference COP29.
“Azerbaijan, which is an important participant in the Declaration of Cooperation (DoC) between OPEC and 'non-OPEC' producers, has turned into a global center of constructive dialogue on key energy issues. This was clearly demonstrated at COP29 and will undoubtedly be re-emphasized at the 30th Baku Energy Forum, which occupies an important place in the region's energy calendar,” the message reads.
Baku Energy Week is supported by the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, with SOCAR acting as the general partner.
Let's note that Azerbaijan has been an active participant in the OPEC+ alliance, contributing significantly to global oil market stability. This partnership aims to stabilise global oil prices by coordinating production cuts and managing supply. Azerbaijan, under the leadership of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), plays a significant role in this coalition due to its substantial oil reserves, especially from the Caspian Sea.
