Orban aims to use Trump meeting to lay groundwork for Putin summit
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban hopes that his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington on November 7 will help pave the way for a potential summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest.
During a broadcast on Kossuth Radio, Prime Minister Viktor Orban emphasized that he believes they will be able to get closer to holding the meeting, Caliber.Az reports.
“One of the important topics that we will discuss with President Trump will be peace in Ukraine,” the Hungarian leader said.
Orban added that he also plans to discuss the development of economic cooperation between Hungary and the United States. He noted that an economic and financial agreement package is already being prepared ahead of the White House meeting.
On October 27, Orban stated that during his meeting with President Trump, he intends to discuss sanctions against Russia’s oil sector.
According to him, the introduction of new restrictions on the Russian oil industry was a mistake made by Trump.
Orban assured that he would try to find a solution to this situation, especially for his own country.
