Orbán: Ukraine's collapse would be "disaster" for Hungary
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has stated that Ukraine’s collapse would be a disaster for Hungary.
“Make no mistake: Ukraine’s collapse would be a disaster for Hungary. Stability next door matters. Hungary supplies 44% of Ukraine’s electricity and 58% of its gas. Meanwhile, the war weakens Ukraine day by day,” Orbán said in a post on X, Caliber.Az reports.
He added: “Peace is the only thing that can strengthen it. Anyone who truly stands with Ukraine must want peace, and must want it now.”
Since the start of the conflict, the Hungarian government has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution. Orbán has repeatedly noted that military operations in Ukraine and Western sanctions against Russia have caused Hungary’s economy losses of between €20 and €30 billion.
