Over 14 million Iranians pledge to defend country, president says
More than 14 million Iranians have reportedly declared their readiness to give their lives to defend the Islamic Republic amid escalating tensions with the United States and Israel, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on X, CNN reports.
“Over 14 million proud Iranians have, up to this moment, declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives in defense of Iran,” he wrote. “I, too, have been, am, and will remain devoted to sacrificing my life for Iran.”
The statement is part of the “Janfada (Sacrificing Life) for Iran” campaign, launched at the start of the Iran war last month to foster national unity and mobilize public support.
Iran is reportedly preparing for the possibility of a large-scale US attack after President Donald Trump set a deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, escalating concerns over regional stability.
