Over 20 children trapped in Myanmar school following earthquake collapse
At least 20 children are trapped in a school building in the town of Taungoo, central Myanmar, after a devastating earthquake caused the structure to collapse.
The earthquake, which struck Myanmar earlier on March 28, led to the destruction of the school in Taungoo, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The building was housing a minimum of 20 children at the time of the disaster.
In total, more than 300 individuals have been injured due to the widespread damage caused by the powerful tremor. US media reported, citing a hospital in Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, that the number of injured continues to rise.
Dr. Kyo Zin, a physician at the hospital, spoke of the challenges facing medical staff: “New patients are still arriving, but we are running short on doctors and nurses,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.
Tragically, at least 20 lives have been lost in the aftermath of the earthquake.
