Over 20 hospitalised after bus carrying junior footballers crashes in Pennsylvania, US
On August 23, a bus carrying the Aliquippa Junior High football team crashed in Economy Borough, about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh, sending 21 of the 28 people on board to local hospitals.
The bus was transporting 25 students and three adults to a game in nearby Gibsonia when the accident occurred. Economy Borough Police Chief Michael O’Brien said he did not have updates on the medical conditions of those hospitalised, Caliber.Az reports, citing AP.
O’Brien noted that the bus initially turned on its side during the crash but righted itself as students evacuated. He described the site as a challenging part of the road, calling it “a bad bend.” Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
A Facebook post from the Aliquippa Junior High football team said all players were being evaluated and requested “a thought or prayer for each player or coach that was traveling this morning.”
