Over 5,000 returnees enter Afghanistan in 24 hours
01 May 2026 13:48
More than a thousand Afghan families have returned to their home country over the past 24 hours.
According to the state-run Bakhtar News Agency, a total of 1,015 families—comprising 5,355 individuals—crossed into Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan via multiple border points.
Authorities said transportation has been arranged to move returnees to their home provinces as part of reintegration efforts and initial humanitarian assistance programs.
Officials added that coordination between government bodies and aid agencies is ongoing to ensure that returning migrants receive essential support upon arrival.
The influx comes as Afghanistan continues to grapple with severe economic difficulties and a prolonged humanitarian crisis.
