Over 5,700 escapees back in custody after Nepal protest jailbreaks

More than 5,700 inmates and juveniles who fled during the Gen-Z protest in Nepal on September 8-9 have returned to detention, the Department of Prison Management said.
Director Chomendra Neupane reported that 5,495 inmates have re-entered prisons, while 244 juveniles are back in correction centres, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Some 13,591 inmates from 27 jails and 964 juveniles from nine correction centres broke free dujring the protests.
Authorities are still searching for 8,816 missing prisoners.
