Overall Gaza Strip death toll nears 41,900 report by Health Ministry
The death toll in the Gaza Strip from Israeli military operations since October 2023 is approaching a staggering 41,870, according to the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave.
These figures were shared through the ministry's official Telegram channel on October 6, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The ministry further reported that, in addition to the fatalities, 97,166 people have been wounded in the ongoing conflict. In the past 24 hours alone, 45 Palestinians lost their lives, and 256 were injured due to Israeli shelling and bombardment across various parts of Gaza.
A particularly devastating overnight strike targeted a school and a mosque in central Gaza, where displaced individuals had sought refuge.
The Health Ministry confirmed that the death toll from this strike had risen to 26, with dozens more injured, though the exact number of casualties remains unclear.
Earlier reports from Al Jazeera had indicated that at least 24 people were killed, and 93 others were wounded in the same incident.
Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
