Overnight Russian drone attacks target Ukrainian ports near Romanian border
Russian drones launched overnight attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure near the Romanian border, Romania’s Ministry of National Defence (MApN) said in a press release.
MApN radar systems detected two aerial targets at 1:10 a.m. local time operating within Ukrainian airspace and moving toward the cities of Reni and Chilia, Digi24 reports.
At 1:26 a.m., residents in the northern part of Tulcea County and the southeastern areas of Galați County were alerted via the RO-Alert emergency warning system after radar systems identified another group of drones heading toward the port of Reni. Shortly thereafter, explosions were reported on Ukrainian territory.
Romanian authorities stressed that no unauthorized incursions into Romania’s airspace were recorded. The alert status was lifted at 2:15 a.m., the ministry confirmed.
