PACE rapporteur aims to visit Lachin road
The PACE [Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe] rapporteur on the situation on the Lachin road, Irish MP Paul Gavan, has expressed his aim to visit the Lachin road.
He said that the Armenia-Azerbaijan tensions have increased over recent months, and it is important for Azerbaijan and Armenia to contribute to finding a solution to prevent the situation from deteriorating, an APA correspondent in the UK reports.
The MP said that a report on the situation should be prepared immediately and that he intends to visit Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the Lachin road, in the last week of May.
"I am ready to meet all relevant interlocutors during my visit. It will include familiarisation with the situation on Lachin road. Despite the deplorable escalation of tension in recent days, I am confident that I can rely on the cooperation of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, on the good intentions of these countries. My goal is to prepare a fair, accurate and honest report," the rapporteur said.
