Pakistan FM: Trump’s Gaza plan diverges from Muslim states’ draft
Pakistan’s foreign minister has said the Gaza plan announced this week by U.S. President Donald Trump does not fully reflect the proposals earlier submitted by a group of Muslim-majority states.
Addressing lawmakers in parliament on Friday (October 3), Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that alterations had been made to the draft text initially put forward by Islamic countries, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"I have made it clear that these 20 points, which Trump has made public, are not ours. These are not the same as ours. I say that some changes have been made in it, in the draft we had," Dar told parliament.
On September 29, Trump unveiled a 20-point initiative aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The plan calls for the release of all hostages—both living and dead—within 72 hours of a ceasefire.
While the blueprint envisions a redeveloped territory branded as "New Gaza," it leaves numerous elements to be settled through negotiations and is contingent on Hamas’s agreement. The militant group launched the October 7, 2023, assault that triggered the ongoing war with Israel.
