14 May 2026 17:45
More than 560 Afghan migrants detained in Pakistan were released and returned to Afghanistan this week via the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings, local authorities said.
Officials from the transfer directorates at the two crossings said 481 people re-entered Afghanistan through Torkham, while another 80 crossed via Spin Boldak, Caliber.Az reports, citing an Afghan government agency.
The group included families and individual migrants who had reportedly been detained over issues related to residency documents in Pakistan.
After being registered and receiving humanitarian assistance, the returnees were transported to their home areas, the officials added.
