Pakistan heightens airspace security amid fears of Indian military strike

30 April 2025 14:10

Pakistan has elevated its airspace security, implementing strict surveillance protocols on foreign flights passing through its airspace.

The heightened vigilance primarily targets flights originating from or transiting through India, as authorities brace for potential regional escalation, Caliber.Az reports via Pakistani media.

The Air Traffic Control (ATC) has received new directives aimed at strengthening monitoring procedures. Under these new instructions, any foreign flights, particularly those from India, will face heightened scrutiny. Suspicious aircraft are now required to obtain high-level clearance before being granted access to Pakistani airspace.

The move comes in response to escalating regional tensions, with Pakistan placing a priority on airspace security as a preemptive measure against potential threats. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated on April 30 that the government has received credible intelligence indicating that India plans to launch a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours.

"Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends to launch a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours using the Pahalgam incident as a false pretext," Tarar posted on the social media platform X. He further warned that any act of aggression would not go unanswered: "Any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response. India will be fully responsible for any serious consequences in the region."

In an official statement released on Pakistan's government social media channels, Minister Tarar condemned India's actions, stating: "Indian self-assumed hubristic role of Judge, Jury and Executioner (sic) in the region is reckless and vehemently rejected." He also reiterated Pakistan's position on terrorism, emphasizing that, as one of the biggest victims of terrorism, Pakistan has always strongly condemned it in all its forms globally.
