Pakistan police convoy targeted: Assistant commissioner, 2 officers shot dead PHOTO

02 December 2025 15:59

At least four people, including North Waziristan Assistant Commissioner Shah Waliullah and two police officers, were killed on December 2, when gunmen attacked his convoy on Miranshah Road in Bannu, Pakistan, officials said.

The attackers also seized weapons from the police following the assault, Caliber.Az reports via Pakistani media.

Two other officers and a civilian were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital, according to the Bannu assistant commissioner.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the attack, called for a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police, and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.

He also directed authorities to provide immediate and high-quality medical care to the injured, affirming that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be in vain.

The attack comes a day after a suicide blast in Lakki Marwat killed one policeman and injured six others. Terrorist incidents in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, have surged since 2021. In the first eight months of 2025 alone, KP recorded over 600 attacks, killing 79 police personnel and 138 civilians.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent its territory from being used for cross-border attacks, a demand that has escalated tensions in recent months.
